About Gotta Dance

Gotta Dance Ballroom & Latin Studio  was established in January 2008.   It is owned by Nancy Cowan.  Lessons and Parties are held at 414 Pleasant Park Road, Ottawa, Ontario.

The Goal at Gotta Dance is:
- to teach people of any age and of any level to dance to the best of their abilities. 
- to offer a friendly yet professional atmosphere in which to learn to dance.
- to offer affordable group classes run in a methodical progression within each of the ballroom and latin dances.
- to offer private lessons:
                -for those who are not comfortable in a group setting, 
                - for those who wish to work one on one with steps learned in a group class, 
                - for those who wish to enter Amateur or Pro-Am Competitons, or
                - for those who simply wish to improve their dancing one on one or as a couple with the instructor.
- to offer Social Practice Parties for you to come out and practice what you have been learning on your lessons.

Nancy Cowan – is a certified ballroom & latin dance instructor and a professional member of the Canadian Dancesport Federation (CDF).  Since 2003 she has competed both professonally and in Pro-Am in ballroom and latin dancesport competitions in Canada and the United States.   She trains her students in both the International and the American styles of ballroom dance - for social dancing and Amateur or Pro-Am competitions.  

Nancy's background is in ballet.  She is a full member of the Canadian Dance Teachers' Association (CDTA) in ballet.  She has been instructing ballet and jazz for over 20 years.  Competitive gymnasts at the Ottawa Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, competitive skaters at the Gloucester Skating Club and competitive ballroom dancers have all benefitted from her instruction.  As well, Nancy has taught body technique for the Quebec Special Olympics.  Her knowledge of body movement is carried over from ballet to ballroom dancing.
